Skagit County Courts
Skagit County Superior Court is a court of general jurisdiction. It is the trial court for all felonies and most civil suits. Superior Court's jurisdiction includes real property, unlawful detainer, adoption, probate, involuntary treatment act, family law, guardianships and juvenile cases. In addition, Superior Court hears appeals from courts of limited jurisdiction (District Court and municipal courts) and other administrative hearing decisions.
Skagit County District Court is a court of limited jurisdiction handling traffic infractions, misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors, civil claims up to $75,000, small claims, and name changes.
Claims and infractions cited within a city's limits are handled by that city's municipal court.

The Skagit County Clerk's Office is responsible for maintaining the documents and records of all Superior Court cases.

Juvenile Court provides services and support to youth and families involved in the juvenile justice system.
Our work is focused on promoting accountability, strengthening community safety, and helping youth make positive changes that support successful futures.
The Office of Assigned Counsel ensures a person’s constitutional right to counsel in a court proceeding for criminal or civil contempt matters, when necessary to ensure procedural fairness. Such a right exists in any proceeding which may result in physical incarceration.
This office performs eligibility screening for indigent defense services for Skagit County Superior, District, and Anacortes Municipal Courts.
The Prosecuting Attorney’s Office serves the community by providing legal representation and guidance to Skagit County and the State of Washington. Our office works with law enforcement, county departments, courts, victims, and community partners to uphold the law, protect the rights of individuals, and support a fair and effective justice system.
