Baby teeth matter! They help babies, toddlers and preschoolers eat and speak clearly. And they save space for adult teeth, too! Babies need their first check-up by the first birthday. Baby teeth can start coming in as early as six months.
Access to Baby and Child Dentistry (ABCD) is a Washington State system of care that connects children enrolled in Apple Health (Medicaid) from birth through age 5 with specially trained dentists in their communities.
Starting dental care early helps children build healthy habits and prevent problems before they start. Cavities are one of the most common childhood health conditions, but they are almost entirely preventable. Untreated cavities can cause pain and make it harder for children to eat, speak, play, focus, and learn.
Regular dental care and prevention can help keep your child healthy, comfortable, and ready to learn—and can save families money by preventing more serious dental problems down the road.
Program Eligibility
- Do you have a child five years of age or younger OR a child age 12 or under who is enrolled with the WA State Developmental Disabilities Administration?
- Does your child have Apple Health for Kids or a Provider One card?
- Do you and your child live in Skagit County?
